Woburn, MA – November 24, 2020 – This winter, Kaspersky is bringing back GReAT Ideas, a series of online events showcasing the company’s latest cybersecurity findings in a friendly, accessible atmosphere. The first event is set for December 2 and will be followed by more sessions in January and February.
The GReAT Ideas series is organized by security researchers from Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT), which works on uncovering the most sophisticated and advanced threats such as APTs, major malware, ransomware and cyber-espionage campaigns around the world.
This time, the series of online talks will give participants insight into the GReAT team’s work. Inspired by regular team meet-ups held internally, “GReAT Ideas. Powered by Croissants. Baguette edition.” will provide an overview of predominant cybersecurity issues and share details of the most recent incidents that shook the world.
The two-hour event will feature presentations by the Paris-based GReAT team, opening with a fireside chat with Warren Mercer, technical leader at Cisco Talos and Brian Bartholomew, principal security researcher in Kaspersky’s GReAT.
Next, Pierre Delcher will expose more details about the most recent malware and delivery chain created by the DeathStalker hacker group, dubbed PowerPepper.
In the third presentation, security expert Ivan Kwiatkowski will introduce the basics of reverse engineering Delphi applications, with practical examples based on samples from the Bahamut threat actor.
Finally, Felix Aimé will present an ongoing project “TinyCheck,” which is aimed at facilitating the detection of stalkerware and other malicious spyware installed on mobile devices. Each talk will last 15 to 20 minutes and finish with a Q&A session, providing an opportunity for those who are planning to build a career in cybersecurity.
“When we first launched the summer series of GReAT Ideas, we wanted to bring the cybersecurity community closer and support everyone with social activities that we were lacking at the time,” said Sergey Novikov, the deputy director of Kaspersky’s GReAT. “GReAT Ideas was intended to fulfil this gap and bring the community together. The initiative proved to be needed and received extremely positive feedback, which is why we decided to come back with a new round of now-improved events, with even more discussion and hands-on practical content.”
The event will take place on December 2, 2020 at 9 A.M. EST. Register for the webinar free here: https://kas.pr/h362
