Kaspersky Lab statement regarding European Commission Official Confirmation Response

April 17, 2019

European Commission: “The Commission is not in possession of any evidence regarding potential issues related to the use of Kaspersky Lab products”

Kaspersky Lab would like to inform its customers, partners and the wider public that the European Commission has officially confirmed that it “is not in possession of any evidence regarding potential issues related to the use of Kaspersky Lab products.”

The statement was published in response to the request from Gerolf Annemans, a Member of the European Parliament, who in March 2019, asked The Commission to answer a number of questions related to the content of the European Parliament Resolution adopted on June 13, 2018. Among other things, the Resolution called Kaspersky Lab products ‘dangerous’ or even ‘malicious’.

“Your products are safe – that’s what we've heard many times from different regulators and politicians. I am happy that the European Commission shares that sentiment and have confirmed it publicly,” said Anton Shingarev, vice president of public affairs, Kaspersky Lab. "This is another point that proves that our global transparency initiative, data relocation and launch of transparency centers is working, and it’s an effective way for a cybersecurity company to ensure trust from clients and regulators. We also hope that the statement from the European Commission will help concerned parties to make evidence-based decisions, not based on rumors and bad reporting.”
