Kaspersky Lab's CEO on How Tech Acquisitions 'Ruin' Engineers - BostInno

In 17 years, Kaspersky Lab has made one acquisition. On Monday, chairman and CEO Eugene Kaspersky visited Boston and explained what he learned from that acquisition about hiring and about company culture. In short: In Kaspersky's experience, growing by acquisition is a terrible idea.

"Instead (in) some cases it's much more optimal not to acquire the technology or the product, but to develop similar in house," said Kaspersky, who hosted a lunch, Monday, for reporters and analysts at Del Frisco in Boston's Seaport, commemorating the Russian cybersecurity company's 10th year in business in the U.S. Its Stateside headquarters are in Woburn, Mass., and in a press release Monday morning, the privately held company touted a compound annual growth rate of 54.4 percent over the past nine years for its North American division.
