January 18, 2019

Kaspersky Lab today announced it is working with the Cybersecurity at MIT Sloan Consortium (CAMS) to host the “Cybersecurity Insight” seminar, offering participants an opportunity to learn about current cybersecurity technologies, trends, and management practices.

Woburn, MA – January 18, 2019Kaspersky Lab today announced it is working with the Cybersecurity at MIT Sloan Consortium (CAMS) to host the “Cybersecurity Insight” seminar, offering participants an opportunity to learn about current cybersecurity technologies, trends, and management practices. The event is open to the broad MIT community during MIT’s Independent Activities Period (IAP) from January 22 – 25.

During this year’s seminar, Kaspersky Lab ICS CERT experts will present research and case studies on the consequences of exploiting vulnerabilities in IoT devices and industrial control systems (ICS).

In addition, a researcher from the Kaspersky Lab Global Research and Analysis Team will discuss the real-world application of security research in today’s threat landscape, focusing on Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) trends. The seminar will also include a Capture the Flag competition, where participants can gain new knowledge about digital forensics, reverse engineering, and cryptography.

The Cybersecurity Insight workshop will also cover the managerial, strategic and organizational aspects of cybersecurity. Researchers from The Industrial Internet Consortium will present information related to its IoT Security Maturity Model concept and how organizations can appropriately invest in security based on security objectives and risk appetites. There will also be a presentation from Robyn Allen, MIT alum and Executive Director with Project Alloy, a non-profit organization aimed at building a more inclusive technical community. Allen will discuss inclusion best practices, from a management perspective, related to retention and promotion of underrepresented engineering talent.

“Cyberthreats are getting more complex and systems have become vulnerable as never before - all making cybersecurity a fascinating industry to be in,” said Vladimir Dashchenko head of vulnerability research, Kaspersky Lab ICS CERT. “Through our collaboration with CAMS, we can showcase the uniqueness of the industry to the next generation in an interactive environment, and continue fostering innovation in cybersecurity within the academic community.”
