The company supports Starmus and the need for greater transparency and international collaboration in cyberspace
Woburn, MA – January 24, 2019 –Kaspersky Lab is announcing its support of the Starmus Festival for the third consecutive year, demonstrating its mission and commitment to “Save the World.” Starmus V will be held at the ETH Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, from June 24 – 29, 2019. Prominent scientists, artists, legendary space explorers and Apollo astronauts will be attending in order to inspire and educate the next generation of great minds.
The aim of Starmus is to inspire and educate the next generation of explorers and regenerate the spirit of discovery. In line with the theme, Kaspersky Lab will be hosting a dedicated space within the festival venue to explain and consider how education, transparency and cross-border collaboration can make the world, and cyberspace in particular, a better and safer place for all.
Kaspersky Lab believes that in an ultra-connected world, the digital future of humanity demands transparency and trust. In line with this belief, the company launched a Global Transparency Initiative in late 2017 that, among other components, includes a newly opened Transparency Center in Zurich where governments and trusted partners can review information on company’s products and their security.
“It’s exciting to continue our partnership with the Festival as it brings together distinguished scientists and artists – some of the brightest minds in the world – to talk about science and how it affects us all,” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of Kaspersky Lab. “And in line with our mission to save the world from cyberthreats, this conference is the ideal platform both to educate the next generation on how to protect themselves, and to get people thinking about the future. We are happy to be part of it.”
“We are glad that Kaspersky Lab, one of the leading and most future oriented cybersecurity companies, will remain our partner for the third consecutive year and join us in celebrating science,” said Garik Israelian, astrophysicist and founder of Starmus Festival. “Together we can inspire more people to make new discoveries.”

About Starmus
Since the very first Homo Sapiens looked up at a star-filled sky we have been awestruck by the vastness of the cosmos. Even today we remain humbled by the sheer immensity of space, especially as through our progress in physics and astronomy, we are now aware of the tremendous distances involved – even to our closest neighbouring stars.
Created by Garik Israelian, researcher at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC), the Starmus Festival is a combination of science, art and music that has featured presentations from Astronauts, Cosmonauts, Nobel Prize Winners and prominent figures from science, culture, the arts and music.
The Starmus conferences join Nobel laureates, eminent researchers, thinkers, men and women of science, culture, arts and music to share their knowledge and experiences in the common search for answers to the great questions of today. For more information visit: https://www.starmus.com.
