Chess, one of the world’s oldest games, has gained considerable momentum over the last few months as it did not need to be put on hold due to self-isolation restrictions, with people continuing to play online. The new gaming platform, the FIDE Online Arena, aims to significantly expand the chess playing community, by providing online players with an exclusive opportunity to obtain official online FIDE ratings and titles, including that of the Online Grandmaster. First, the company’s Security Services team performed a security assessment for the FIDE Online Arena to identify possible security issues on the website and developed a set of recommendations for improving the platform and user security. Kaspersky also provides the platform with protection from DDoS attacks, analyzing the website’s load with various techniques that help to detect an attack on time and use traffic filtering mechanisms. Thus, even if there is an attack, all users will retain constant access to the platform.
