Blue Coat Features Kaspersky Lab's Whitelisting and Anti-Malware Technologies
Woburn, MA – December 2, 2014 – Kaspersky Lab has announced that Blue Coat’s Content Analysis System S500 now includes Kaspersky Lab’s industry-leading whitelisting technology and award-winning anti-malware engine. Together, Kaspersky Lab’s whitelisting technology and anti-malware engine are designed to help protect corporate IT infrastructure from both known threats and from zero-day vulnerabilities.
“The Blue Coat Advanced Threat Protection lifecycle defense and its key component, the Content Analysis System, is a proven, reliable information security tool. Kaspersky Lab’s technologies play a vital role in achieving this reliability,” said Kevin Flynn, director of product marketing, Blue Coat Systems. “We believe that our latest offering—the Content Analysis System S500, with 1-Gbps throughput, will be even more effective in countering the cyber threats present in today’s Internet environment.”
The first component of the technology checks if the executable files transferred via the gateways are in the application’s whitelisting database. This database contains more than a billion file samples which have been checked for malicious activity and is constantly updated with data on new applications. The gateways may also enable the Default Deny mode, which prohibits the transfer of files that are not in the whitelisting database. This feature is especially important for securing the operational continuity of critical infrastructure facilities.
The second component is Kaspersky Lab’s anti-malware engine that combines signature and heuristic methods for detecting malicious software. Coupled with the whitelisting module, it scans only those files that are not in the whitelisting database, saving the gateway’s processing power and resources.
“We are proud to share our threat intelligence with Blue Coat Systems, the first technology partner to implement our industry-leading whitelisting technology in their gateways, providing the high-reliability of the Default Deny mode,” said Nikita Shvetsov, chief technology officer, Kaspersky Lab.
