Kaspersky Lab Products Receive Overall Highest Results in Independent Tests for 2017

Woburn, MA – February 20, 2018 – For the fifth year in a row, Kaspersky Lab has achieved the highest ranking in its TOP3 cybersecurity metric, based on the results of a broad spectrum of independent lab tests. In 2017, Kaspersky Lab products outperformed those of all other security vendors in independent tests, receiving first-place scores in 72 tests and reviews.

Kaspersky Lab participated in more independent tests than any other vendor in 2017, entering 86 tests in total, whereas the closest competitor entered 68. The company’s products were also ranked among the top three products in 91 percent of the tests it entered, with the closest competitor achieving a top-three finish in 72 percent of tests. These results have cemented Kaspersky Lab’s position as industry leader for its ability to provide high-quality protection against known, unknown and advanced threats.

Based on the results of independent assessments by world-renowned testing labs, Kaspersky Lab’s TOP3 metric regularly monitors the performance of both consumer and business products from top security vendors. The calculation measures vendors on their ability to score highly in a range of tests and reviews – giving each vendor a score based on how many top-three rankings it achieves, compared to the number of tests in which it participates.

Only independent tests are included in the TOP3 calculations, allowing the metric to remain fair and impartial. TOP3 measures tests from labs such as AV-Test, SELabs, MRG Effitas, AV-Comparatives and others, all of which are highly regarded for their testing excellence and transparency. Products are tested for their ability to protect against advanced threats, ransomware, exploits, financial malware and more, as well as their ability to identify false positives with accuracy on different operating systems.
