A local Ukrainian energy provider was recently disrupted by what may have been a cyberattack, leading to blackouts across the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine. Researchers are making potential connections to a group of cybercriminals who use BlackEnergy malware. Kaspersky Lab reported on BlackEnergy in 2014, finding a long and diverse list of victims which included power facilities and government bodies.
