Shade Among Top Three Encryptors in Russia; Delivered via Spam, Exploit Kits - SC Magazine

A family of ransomware Trojans that encrypts files and adds extensions emerged in late 2014/2015, establishing itself among the top three most widespread encryptors in Russia. Kaspersky Lab has classified this threat as Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Shade. This malware is delivered to victim’s computers through two main methods: spam messages and exploit kits. This is unique because unlike other encryptors, Trojan-Random.Win32.Shade starts an infinite loop on the system. Read about the threat in this article.
