Kaspersky Security for Mac Protection Earns AV-Comparatives’ Approved Security Product Award
MA –September 23, 2013 -Kaspersky Lab today announces that Kaspersky Security for Mac achieved the Approved
Security Product award in the recent Mac Security Review conducted by the AV-Comparatives laboratory. The
solution was praised for its quality protection technologies, user-friendly
interface and additional security features such as virtual keyboard and
increasing popularity of Mac computers comes the unwelcome attention of cybercriminals.
According to Kaspersky Lab research statistics, 2012 saw a 30 percent increase in the amount of
malware detected for OS X. Although there are still more viruses targeting
Windows compared to Mac, it is evident that the issue of Mac security needs to
be taken more seriously.
As a result,
AV-Comparatives reviewed antivirus programs for Mac to take a detailed look at
the features and functionalities that matter most. During the test,
AV-Comparatives examined eight leading security vendor’s solutions for Mac, focusing
on product parameters such as ease of installation, usability and protection
efficiency. All products were tested using OS X Mountain Lion.
To test the
products’ protection technologies, 20 real malicious applications for OS X were
selected, which were deemed a representative sample of all the dangerous
objects detected on the platform in the first half of 2013. Kaspersky Security
for Mac effectively blocked all of them. In addition, AV-Comparatives tested
how well the products could block Windows malware and Kaspersky Lab’s solution
successfully blocked 100 percent of the 500 samples.
