Woburn, MA - October 3, 2014 -Kaspersky Lab today announces the testing results of its protection products carried out by independent research companies in Q3 2014. In 11 different tests, Kaspersky Lab products earned top scores and expert endorsements as reliable and effective tools to protect home and corporate users against modern cyberthreats.

AV-Test

One of the important awards of the quarter — the Best Repair 2014 from AV-Test – went to Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. This one-year test analyzed how effectively the solutions could remove malicious software and reverse its impact on the operation of the device. Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool removed all traces of the malicious software from the operating system and scored top marks in the test.

In July, AV-Test published the results of its general trial of protection products running Windows XP conducted from May to June 2014. Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 ranked first among 23 solutions for home users, scoring maximum points in the protection, performance and usability categories. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business came second among products for business blocking all the threats used during testing.

AV-Comparatives

AV-Comparatives presented the results of four tests conducted according to different methodologies: the Performance Test, the Whole Product Dynamic Real-World Protection Test, the Retrospective/Proactive Test and the Mac Security Test & Review.

The main objective of the Performance Test was to analyze the performance of antivirus solutions in different user scenarios. For example, copying or archiving documents and installing or running applications. The test paid special attention to how the antivirus solution impacted the system performance. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 earned 188.8 out of 190 possible points - the highest score received during testing.

The second trial, Whole Product Dynamic Real-World Protection Test, assessed the effectiveness of protection solutions in the Internet Security class. Over four months of testing Kaspersky Internet Security encountered over 4,000 threats and demonstrated a detection rate of 99.6 percent with no false positives.

The Retrospective/Proactive Test was conducted to evaluate heuristic and behavioural protection mechanisms against new malware. Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 showed a high detection level after blocking 97 percent of new unknown threats.

The results of these three tests confirmed the reliability and effectiveness of Kaspersky Lab solutions and each product received the top Advanced+ award.

The objective of the fourth AV-Comparatives test, Mac Security Test & Review, was to certify the solutions for Mac OS X rather than to compare the effectiveness of different products for this operating system. Products from different vendors were tested under OS X and had to detect malicious software written both for Apple and Windows. Its performance in this test earned Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac the ‘Approved Security Product’ certificate. AV-Comparatives highlighted the “combination of excellent protection levels and a friendly interface” in the Kaspersky Lab solution.

Virus Bulletin

After a slight delay, Virus Bulletin published the results of its tests for consumer products conducted on a platform running Windows 7 and products for businesses running under Windows Server 2012. Testing took place in April and June respectively. The tests evaluated how effectively the solutions combatted both well-known and new threats and analyzed the stability of the products and their ability to correctly detect non-hazardous objects. The results of the April test earned Kaspersky Internet Security the VB100 certification. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business and Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition both successfully passed all stages of testing and also received VB100 certificates.

In addition, after Virus Bulletin’s July certification of anti-spam solutions Kaspersky Security For Mail Server was awarded the Spam+ Verified certificate for the third time in a row.

Dennis Technology Labs

In Q3 2014, Dennis Technology Labs conducted testing in three categories: Home Anti-Virus Protection, Small Business Anti-Virus Protection and Enterprise Anti-Virus Protection, in April and June. Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, Kaspersky Small Office Security and Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows earned top “AAA” marks in all three respective tests.
