Woburn, MA – October 14, 2014 -Kaspersky Lab announced the appointment of Nikita Shvetsov to the position of Chief Technology Officer. While serving as acting CTO and a member of the Management Board since April 2014, Nikita confirmed his leadership and made an outstanding contribution to the company’s strategic development, leading to his permanent appointment to the role.

As the Company’s CTO, Nikita will continue to devise the overall technology and product strategy, drive all product and service development as well as engineering and research activities. Nikita will also oversee the whole Kaspersky Lab R&D organization as Kaspersky Lab’s main source of expertise.

Nikita has been with Kaspersky Lab for 10 years after joining the company in 2004 as a virus analyst. In 2006 Nikita served as a senior developer working on emulators for the heuristic engine and then became Director of the Anti-Malware Research Unit. Prior to being appointed acting CTO, Nikita served as Vice President of Threat Research and Deputy CTO (Research), taking charge of the strategic direction of Kaspersky Lab’s threat prevention technologies.

Under Nikita’s leadership, Kaspersky Lab products and technologies have won a number of prestigious awards, including two ‘Product of the Year’ awards from AV-Comparatives, the highly-respected independent testing organization. Also, the company was ranked first in a Top 3 metric measuring consistent performance in independent tests throughout 2013, according to statistics gathered from the most authoritative testing organizations.
