Woburn, MA –December 17, 2013  - Kaspersky Lab announced the results of the first regional round of its “CyberSecurity for the Next Generation 2014” student conference that was held last week in Milan, Italy.

CyberSecurity for the Next Generation is an annual international event that brings together students, young scientists and researchers, leading IT security experts and university professors from across the world in a collaborative environment to present and discuss topical cybersecurity issues. It provides the next generation with an opportunity to share knowledge and experience, to develop new ideas and increase the awareness of IT security.

This year’s CyberSecurity for the Next Generation includes four regional rounds: the European Cup, the Russia & CIS Cup, the Asia-Pacific & MEA Cup and the Americas Cup. The winners of each contest will be invited to the Final Round which will be hosted in Stockholm, Sweden, in June 2014. Topics that may be of interest to participants in 2014 include emerging threats for emerging platforms; securing the cloud, virtual and ‘big-data’ infrastructure; future protection technologies; securing corporate infrastructure; and security education.

The European round took place on December 10-12 at the Politecnico di Milano. Fifteen representatives of the best universities from all over Europe showcased their research papers to a program committee of Kaspersky Lab experts, respected university professors, renowned industry experts and media. The judges selected the authors of the most interesting, strategically important and innovative cybersecurity projects. The winners received cash prizes as well as an invitation to attend the global finals of CyberSecurity for the Next Generation 2014 in Stockholm.
