Kaspersky Internet Security Ranks First in Independent Anti-Phishing Test

Woburn, MA – September 6, 2013–Kaspersky Lab today announces that the new Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 was one of the top two solutions to produce outstanding results during the July 2013 anti-phishing testing by the testing lab AV-Comparatives. The latest solution from Kaspersky Lab blocked 99 percent of phishing URLs, earning the Company the Advanced + three-star award.

Recently, it has been proven that phishing is on the rise. According to the results of a recent survey by B2B Communications in conjunction with Kaspersky Lab, the number of Internet users who encountered phishing attacks over the last 12 months has grown from 19.9 million to 37.3 million, an increase of 87 percent. 

The AV-Comparatives test assessed the anti-phishing protection offered by security products in a simulation that replicated typical Web browsing conditions. The test, conducted on Windows 7 PCs, had two parts: the Anti-Phishing False-Alarm test, which checked if any of the various security products blocked the 400 legitimate online banking sites and the Phishing URL detection rate test. The URLs used in the test targeted various types of personal data, including login credentials for PayPal, online banking and credit cards, email accounts, eBay, social networks, online games and other online services. Overall, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 blocked 99 percent of the 187 phishing websites and none of the 400 legitimate URLs.
