Woburn, MA – August 22, 2013 - Kaspersky Lab announces today that Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 for home users delivered a 100% success rate in blocking Zero Day threats during the AV-Test’s  two-month security evaluation. The solution also scored 16.5 points out of 18 for its protection capabilities, performance and usability.

The test involved 26 security solutions from world-renowned vendors. AV-Test’s experts focused on how well each product handled a wide range of threats – including Zero Day attacks – as well as their ability to distinguish between legitimate software and malware, or safe and dangerous websites. Kaspersky Lab’s product did well in every test, including blocking all 132 malicious Zero-day attacks unleashed by the organizers –attacks which use breaches in legitimate software that have not been repaired. In addition, Kaspersky Internet Security made only three false detections, compared to the industry average of 12 false positives, according to the testing results.

Overall, Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 tested well in the protection and usability categories, securing a six out of six score for both. In the performance category, Kaspersky Lab was awarded 4.5 out of 6, against an industry average of 3.8. The combined total score resulted in Kaspersky Lab taking second place in the testing overall.

Kaspersky Internet Security has repeatedly proved its worth under independent testing: at the end of June, AV-Comparatives awarded the solution its highest Advanced+ rating based on the results of a rigorous four-month test. In late May, Dennis Technology Labs praised Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 for its strong performance in urgent threat protection tests.

Quotes:
Nikita Shvetsov, Deputy CTO (Research) at Kaspersky Lab
“We are paying close attention to developing our proactive detection methods, since these are the best ways to combat unknown threats. These AV-Test results prove that efforts have been successful – our customers are safely protected from unknown malware.”
