Woburn, MA –October 18, 2013 - Kaspersky Lab today announces that Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business was named the “Best Buy” out of a group of 19 endpoint security products tested by SC Magazine, a leading independent source of news and information about global IT security issues. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business received perfect 5-star ratings in all sub-categories of testing, and the SC Magazine test lab could not determine any notable weaknesses within the product.

Quick facts

  • SC Magazine tested 19 endpoint security solutions in the summer of 2013, and published the results of their group test in the August 2013 magazine issue
  • Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business received a 5-star overall rating, and was the only product to win the “Best Buy” designation
  • SC Magazine testers found Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business to be “comprehensive in both features and manageability”
  • Earlier this year, Kaspersky Lab’s previous endpoint security suite, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8, was named SC Magazine’sBest SME Solution” of 2012. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business is the successor to this product.

Test results
The SC Magazine test lab noted:
“Aside from the large endpoint security feature set, Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business offers a lot of policy management options, including control over removable media devices and application control. All policy can be assigned using the already existing Active Directory structure of users, groups, computers and organizational units. These can then be pushed to the client applications with a single click of the mouse. Additionally, there are clients available for Linux and Mac, as well as a few select mobile platforms.”

In addition to Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business’ comprehensive feature set, the testers also found the products easy to deploy and manage:
“Once we had our Security Center installed, we were able to access the management console for the entire security suite and manage everything from this single console. We found the management console to be easy to use and intuitive to navigate. Once we had the management console installed, we were able to start deploying the clients throughout the environment. Through the use of the remote installation wizard, we found it straightforward to deploy and configure the client services on all of our Windows client machines.”

How the test was performed
During its monthly Group Test evaluation process, SC Magazine evaluates approximately 50 individual criteria of each tested product throughout the general test process. These criteria were developed by the SC Magazine Lab in cooperation with the Center for Regional and National Security at Eastern Michigan University. SC Magazine developed second sets of standards specifically for the groups under test and use the Common Criteria (ISO 1548) as a basis for the test plan. Group Test reviews focus on operational characteristics and are considered at evaluation assurance level (EAL) 1 (functionally tested) or, in some cases, EAL 2 (structurally tested).

“The results demonstrated by Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business in this test are tremendously validating, and show the level of thoughtful design and cutting-edge technologies our experts were able to build into a single, integrated solution. What makes this result even more satisfying is the knowledge that all Kaspersky Lab technologies are built in-house, and are the result of decades-long work by Kaspersky Lab security experts. Companies won’t find the same superior combination of usability and protection in any other corporate security solution.”
