Kaspersky Lab’s Online News Network Recognized by Independent Research Firm

November 3, 2010 – Woburn, MA –Threatpost, an independent destination for the global IT Security community, has been awarded a 2010 Forrester Groundswell Award in the Business-to-Business “Spreading” category. The fourth annual Forrester Groundswell Awards were announced last week at the Forrester Consumer Forum in Chicago. This award recognizes Threatpost’s ability to serve as an independent security news community and to successfully leverage spreading best practices by establishing itself as a trusted voice within the IT security community.

Kaspersky Lab created Threatpost in 2008 to address IT security professionals’ need for independent news and analysis about IT security issues. Research showed that savvy security professionals visited multiple online news sites to get a complete understanding of security news. Because of that, Threatpost serves as the premier destination for aggregated security news, along with providing in-depth analysis, original reporting, and a forum for the IT security community to exchange ideas with their peers.

The Threatpost editorial is team led by IT security industry veterans Dennis Fisher and Paul Roberts. Fisher has over a decade of experience in reporting on security industry news and issues. Roberts is an industry-known editor with close to a decade of experience as a technology reporter and analyst. The editorial team provides analysis on fast-breaking industry news, writes original in-depth features, and each authors their own blog covering malware attacks and cybercrime. The combination of aggregated news from across the web and in-depth original reporting makes Threatpost the one stop shop for IT security information on the Internet.

The “Spreading” category is defined by Forrester as getting customers or users within a company to encourage others to adopt a product or service. The Forrester Groundswell Awards recognize excellence in achieving business and organizational goals with social technology applications. This year, there were more than 130 entries to the Forrester Groundswell Awards in four divisions including Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumer, Management, and International.
