Below are some common questions about manual subscription renewals and upgrades. If you are enrolled in Auto-Renewal, please see our Kaspersky Auto-Renewal Service FAQ.

How do I know if I’m enrolled in Kaspersky Auto-Renewal Service?

You are enrolled in Auto-Renewal if you purchased your product from the Kaspersky Lab eStore, and accepted the Auto-Renewal Plan Terms and Conditions at the time of purchase.

If you’re not sure,

  1. Go to Quick Order Lookup
  2. Look under Subscription Details
  3. The words “Auto Renew” will appear next to Billing Type if you are enrolled in the service

What’s the difference between a renewal and an upgrade?

Subscription Renewal: If you already have a Kaspersky product installed, and you are happy with your current protection, then a subscription renewal is a good choice for you. For example, if you own Kaspersky Anti-Virus and are satisfied with your product, you should renew your subscription to Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

With a subscription renewal, you’ll be able to:

  • Receive regular protection definition updates to keep your computer safe from the latest threats
  • Get updates to the latest version of your product as it becomes available

Upgrade: If you’d like additional Kaspersky security features or services that are not included in the product you currently own, you can purchase an upgrade to a different product. For example, if you own Kaspersky Anti-Virus and would like more features, you can purchase an upgrade to Kaspersky Internet Security.

When you purchase an upgrade to a different product, you’ll be able to:

  • Receive regular protection definition updates, to keep your computer safe from the latest threats
  • Get updates to the latest version of your product as it becomes available
  • Choose a different product with additional protection and service features that meet your needs
  • Choose between a 1-3-year license, 3, 5 or 10 user pack

I’m not sure which Kaspersky product I own.

To find out which product you own:

  • Double-click on the Kaspersky "K" icon in your system tool tray located in the lower right of your computer
  • On the main application screen, you will see your product name on the top of the screen.

I’d like to make a new product purchase, but I’m not sure which product is right for me.

To help you decide which product is best for your needs, please review the comparison chart in our License Renewal and Upgrade Center.

If I renew my product before it expires, will I lose time remaining on my subscription?

If you renew the subscription on your existing product, you will not lose remaining days on your old subscription. However, you will receive a new license, subscription and activation code (also called license key). Your new activation code will automatically load the additional days left from your old subscription.

If I upgrade to a different Kaspersky product, will my existing subscription carry over?

If you choose to buy a new product through the Kaspersky Lab eStore, you are buying a brand new license and subscription to a Kaspersky product. Any remaining subscription days on your old product will not carry over to your new product.

How many devices will my renewal or upgrade purchase protect?

You may install the product on as many computers and devices your particular license allows. Most Kaspersky products allow for installation on 1-3 computers.

If you purchased a multi-device license, you can install the software on 3-5 devices (depending on the license), including computers, Macs, and Android tablets and smartphones.

The number of devices on which the product you’ve chosen can be installed can be found on your order confirmation email next to the product name.

If your product is already installed, you may also:

  1. Double-click on the Kaspersky “K” icon in your system tool tray located in the lower right of your computer to open the main application window
  2. Click on the key button
  3. The window that opens will display your licensing information, including the number of computers on which you are licensed to install your product.

Can I renew my subscription from my software menu?

Yes. To renew from your product:

  1. Double-click on the Kaspersky “K” icon in your system tool tray located in the lower right of your computer to open the main application window
  2. Click on the key button
  3. In the window that opens, click the Renew button
  4. This opens a Web page with the terms of the license renewal through the Kaspersky Lab eStore or Kaspersky partners. When you pay for a license at the Kaspersky Lab eStore, a new activation code is sent to the email address specified in the order form.

As your subscription gets closer to expiration, you should also receive on-screen message reminders allowing you to order.

Once I complete my renewal or upgrade purchase, what are my next steps?

Once you complete your purchase you should download, install, and activate your product:

  1. Download the latest version of your Kaspersky Lab program from your order confirmation page or email, or from our Web site: Kaspersky Lab Product Updates
  2. Save the installation file to your computer in an easy-to-find spot like your Desktop or My Documents.
  3. Close all other programs and locate the installation file you downloaded and double-click it.
  4. When prompted, enter your new activation code.

For additional information, please view our installation and activation help Web page.

I don’t know where to download my product. Where can I find it?

You can download the latest version of your Kaspersky Lab program from your order email or from our Website: Kaspersky Lab Product Updates.

I cannot find my activation code. Where is it?

Check your order email, if you purchased online; the CD sleeve, if you also ordered a back-up disc online; or inside your DVD case, if you ordered in-store, for the code. You can find your activation code via Quick Order Look Up.

The code will be four sets of five characters and looks like XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX.

The installation process says I have incompatible software. How can I remove it?

The Kaspersky software is capable of removing most incompatible software on its own; however there can be times where it needs some assistance.

To help with the removal other incompatible programs, please check our list of removal tools for conflicting 3rd party software.

How do I look up my order number?

Your order number can be found on your order email, along with your order password, which allows you to view your order via Quick Order Look Up.

If you cannot find your order email, you can login by providing the last four digits of your credit card and your email address.

How do I see my new subscription date?

  1. Double-click on the Kaspersky “K” icon in your system tool tray located in the lower right of your computer to open the main application window
  2. Click on the key button
  3. The window that opens will display your license information, including your expiration date. The expiration date is listed in the format DD/MM/YY.

Can I transfer my license from an old computer I’m no longer using to another computer?

Yes. If you want to transfer protection from one computer to another, you must uninstall the software from the old computer, and then install it on the new computer. Afterwards you will be able to activate the application. If your old computer is defective or unusable, you don’t need to uninstall the software.

Visit our Download Page to download the software. Visit our Activation/Installation page for assistance with installation.

Your activation code can be found on your order email, if you purchased online; CD sleeve, if you also purchased a back-up disc online; or on the Activation Card included in the DVD case, if you purchased in-store. You can also check your My Kaspersky Account.

If a new version of my product comes out before my current license expires, can I update to the newer version?

Yes. As long you have remaining time on your subscription, you are entitled to download the latest version of your product at no charge.

For example, if you have a version of Kaspersky Internet Security with an active license, you can update to the latest version of Internet Security.

Please note: You cannot activate Kaspersky Internet Security with a Kaspersky Anti-Virus activation code, or vice versa.

What’s the difference between and update and an upgrade?

Update — Periodically, Kaspersky Lab may make feature, performance, or security enhancements to your software. You are entitled to download the latest version of the software you currently own as long as you have remaining time on your subscription, free of charge. This includes minor software updates as well as major product releases. For example, if you purchased Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 is released before your subscription has expired, you can download Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 for free.

Upgrade — An upgrade is when you purchase a different Kaspersky product than what you currently own, to take advantage of additional protection features or services. For example, if you own Kaspersky Antivirus, you may decide to upgrade to Kaspersky Internet Security.

Kaspersky Labs provides around-the-clock protection against new threats. To keep your protection current, renew your subscription.
