Does your anti-virus seem to slow down your computer’s performance? When applications are lagging, you start randomly changing the anti-virus settings in order to fix the problem, don’t you?
There is a better solution. In the previous Tip Of The Week, we described how to improve your computer’s performance while using anti-virus at all times and also when the computer is idle.
However, before you optimize the anti-virus settings, make sure you are starting off with the neutral (recommended) ones. Is it possible to remember all the questionable changes you’ve made and cancel them? How do you restore defaults to start over when tuning your computer’s protection?
In Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 you can easily restore the initial settings that are optimal and recommended by Kaspersky Lab specialists.
You can do it in the following way:
- At the bottom of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 window, click the Settings link.
- Click the link Restore settings. On the Wizard’s welcome screen, click Next.
- If you configured some special settings for certain components (e.g. scheduled scan, rules and exclusions), you can keep them while resetting all the rest:
Deselect the check boxes for the settings you want to keep (the selected groups of settings will be reset), then click Next.
- Wait until the process is complete and click Finish.
When the settings are restored, the Recommended protection level will be activated for all components of the application except for those you skipped. Now you can use the links above and configure your anti-virus for optimal performance.
A similar feature is available in Kaspersky Internet Security 2014.
