If your car is linked to the Internet, make sure you’re keeping yourself safe from hackers. According to car manufacturers, cloud-connected cars won't be secure for at least another three years. If you do have a car that is connected to the Internet, make sure to be educated about risks such as the impact of potential rogue programs on a smartphone in the car that could provide access to a vehicle. Symptoms of a cyber-takeover to look for are "sudden changes in the climate controls of the car, lost control of the windshield wipers, unlocking or locking of car doors," according to Sergey Lozhkin, senior security researcher at Kaspersky Lab.
