Woburn, MA – October16, 2013-Kaspersky Lab today announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, two versions of the Company’s flagship home consumer products, earned high scores in AV-TEST’s latest Bi-Monthly Certification. The products received 17 out of a possible 18 points in the independent test for their ability to counteract cyber-threats during the July-August testing period.

In total, 26 leading security solutions took part in the test. Both Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 were included because the timing of the test coincided with the launch of Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, which occurred in mid-August.

The test assessed three components of each product: the efficiency of malware detection, the accuracy of only blocking legitimate threats, and the impact on computer performance.

In the malware detection test, the Kaspersky Lab products identified 100 percent of the 19,500 malware samples chosen by the test organization. The selected threats had all been seen in the wild within the four weeks prior to the test.

A further 125 new, unlisted threats tested the solutions’ ability to counter unknown malware. Over the course of the two months, Kaspersky Internet Security achieved 97.5 percent effectiveness, against an industry average of 91 percent.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 received the highest score in the Usability category, which included testing the number of false positives. Kaspersky Lab products returned just three false positives, compared to an industry average of seven.

In addition, the Kaspersky Lab solutions scored 5.5 out of 6 in the Performance test, compared to an average score of 4 points. This test measures the product’s impact on PC performance. The overall test results earned Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 and 2014 the ‘Certified’ award.

Kaspersky Lab products regularly demonstrate superior protection capabilities in independent testing. For example, Kaspersky Lab was awarded AV-TEST’s Innovation Award for secure online transactions in September. Also, in August, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 successfully detected 100 percent of threats in the Whole Product Dynamic Real-World Protection Test conducted by AV-Comparatives.

A summary of the results for the AV-TEST Bi-Monthly Certification July-August 2013 is available on the AV-TEST website.
