WOBURN, MA - July 9, 2009 - Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of Internet threat management solutions that protect against all forms of viruses, spyware, hackers and spam, announces that Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 has received the Platinum Award from Virus Bulletin, a leading UK publication that evaluates and reviews IT security products.

Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 protects corporate mail systems and public mail services from unsolicited bulk mailings. It out-performed similar offerings from other vendors during Virus Bulletin's spam filtration efficiency test, detecting and successfully blocking 97.5% of all unsolicited messages.

The results of the group-test were published in the July issue of Virus Bulletin magazine, and included evaluations of nine anti-spam solutions. The products were tested for efficiency using 745,400 test e-mails, 2,400 of which were non-spam that should be allowed to reach intended recipients. Kaspersky Anti-Sapm 3.0 demonstrated a false-positive detection rate that was practically zero: only one e-mail out of the 2,400 was incorrectly classified as spam. Virus Bulletin's experts said, "Such an incredibly low false-positives rate in combination with over 97% of spam detection demonstrates that Kaspersky Anti-Spam fully deserves the VBSpam Platinum Award."

In addition, Virus Bulletin reported a favorable user-experience, free of problems during installation or testing: "The installation of KAS went smoothly. The program started in just a few minutes after it was loaded on the computer. The product's performance did not cause us much worry."

The VBSpam Platinum Award is only given to solutions that demonstrate a spam detection level that is double the average of all products tested, while also reporting a false-positive rate that is half the average.

"Spam control is one of our strategic priorities, and we remain dedicated to improving our anti-spam technologies," says Andrey Nikishin, Director of Content Filtering Department at Kaspersky Lab. "It was very fulfilling for us to hear that Virus Bulletin, an authoritative and independent magazine, has acknowledged the quality and efficiency of our anti-spam technologies. As I see, these tests are based on fundamentally sound methodology and reproduce the quality of anti-spam products the way they actually perform on end users' computers."

Designed for large and medium-size enterprises using Linux operating systems, Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 combats unsolicited e-mail by incorporating a number of spam control technologies that are unique to the market. Kaspersky Anti-Spam's great effectiveness is achieved through multi-layer and multi-language analysis of e-mail. The package of technologies implemented in Kaspersky Anti-Spam ensures detection of virtually all unsolicited e-mail messages.
