Kaspersky Lab, Europol, Dutch Police, and Intel Security have teamed up to launch the 'No More Ransom' scheme, in an effort to fight the threat of extortion by cybercriminals. No More Ransom is a new online portal created to inform the public about the dangers of ransomware and to help victims recover their data without having to pay a ransom. The number of ransomware victims is growing at an alarming rate: according to Kaspersky Lab, the number of users attacked by crypto-ransomware rose by 550 percent, from 131,000 in 2014-2015 to 718,000 in 2015-2016.
