After Sony Pictures Entertainment was hacked shortly before Thanksgiving of 2014, the attackers – who dubbed themselves the "Guardians of Peace" – went quiet, or so it seemed. Researchers from Kaspersky Lab, Novetta, and other security companies have discovered the group believed to be linked to the Sony Pictures hack, and they are still active in digital warfare. The attackers, dubbed Lazarus Group, have been connected to classic surveillance campaigns in addition to the Sony attack and other attacks targeting government, entertainment, and critical infrastructure sectors in the U.S. and across Asia.
