Activation

 

Activating your Kaspersky lab software is very simple no matter which version you are installing. Always make sure that the time and date on your computer is correct before trying to activate the software. The following covers all types of activations:


Activate your Kaspersky Trial:

Built into all Kaspersky Lab home products are embedded trial activation codes that will last 30 days from the time of activation. This code can be used only once and requires an active internet connection.

If you enjoyed the software and purchased an activation code from our E-Store or the software from a local retail store, you can use the activation code from your purchase and apply it to the version already on your computer.


Activate your existing Kaspersky software:

You will need to have an active internet connection in order to activate the software on your computer. Activation will take place during the installation of the software or you can skip it and activate the software later. Activate your software with the activation code provided either in your email from a purchase online or the CD sleeve from your retail store purchase.


Activate after using your Kaspersky Trial:

If you enjoyed the software and purchased an activation code from our eStore or the software from a local retail store, you can use the activation code from your purchase and apply it to the version already on your computer. Simply follow the above Activation Guide links.

Please note: If you are using a trial of Kaspersky Internet Security and purchase Kaspersky Anti-Virus, the activation code from your Anti-Virus purchase will not activate the Internet Security version and vice versa. You will need to install the software that the code was intended for use. Please see our Installation Guide for help.


Frequently Asked Questions:

I was not asked for my email address or other personal info. Will my Kaspersky work?

Yes, this is by design. We are not registering users at this time, simply hold onto your activation code from your order email or CD sleeve.


I have an activation code from an earlier version. Can I use that on the new versions?

Yes, as long as the activation code still has time left on it. Please see our Upgrade Guide for more instructions.


I purchased the software in a retail store. How long does that code last and how can I renew the software?

All activation codes from retail purchases of Kaspersky Lab home products last one year, unless stated otherwise on the box. When the code is about 2 weeks from expiring, you will be asked to renew the activation code (purchase a new code) by the software. Please see the Renewal Guide for more instruction.


When I try to apply the activation code I get an error message. How can I solve this?

Check that your date/time/year are correct on the computer before continuing. Activation errors may happen, but you will be able to find a solution in our Knowledge Base.
