Kaspersky® Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

Kaspersky® Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 protects users of corporate mail systems against viruses and spam, and can be centrally administered. It provides antivirus scanning of incoming and outgoing messages and mail stored on the server, as well as messages in shared folders. It also helps mail system users to block unwanted mail using intelligent spam recognition technologies in addition to technologies provided by Microsoft.

Principal Advantages

Advanced technologies for protection against viruses and spam. In addition to its proven antivirus technologies that ensure traditionally high detection rates of malicious programs, the product makes use of the SpamTest™ antispam technology to detect unwanted mail.

Two-tier spam filtering. Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 filters unsolicited mail in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange 2003 / Outlook 2003, guaranteeing high recognition of spam.

Cost-effectiveness (low TCO). This antispam and anti-malware software offers protection against malicious programs and unsolicited mail in one solution, reducing the cost of protecting the mail server and facilitating system administration.

Features

Antispam for MS Exchange Server

Intelligent spam recognition technologies. The antispam application scans all messages arriving on the Exchange Server for spam attributes, filtering formal attributes of messages (email and IP addresses, size, headings) and analyzing the content of messages and attachments using a range of advanced technologies, such as graphic spam filtration using signatures.

Blocks mass mailings. The spam blocking program prevents any unsanctioned use of the mail server, tracking and blocking any attempts at sending mass mailings to computers on the network.

Message classification. System administrators can set individual rules for each category of unwanted correspondence to prevent important information from being lost. True spam messages can be blocked, suspicious letters can be sent to the “Junk” folder, and any formal messages (for example, confirmation of delivery and receipt of messages) can be allowed through to inboxes.

Antivirus protection

Real-time scanning. Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 detects and removes all types of viruses, worms, Trojans and malicious programs from incoming and outgoing mail messages, including from attachments of any format.

Background scanning. The application can scan shared folders and any messages stored on the Exchange Server in background mode. This guarantees that all objects are scanned using the very latest versions of the antivirus databases and does not noticeably increase the server load.

Detection of potentially hostile programs. When set to Maximum Protection, the application can detect and remove not only known malware, but also potentially harmful programs.

Virus outbreak prevention. The application can track virus activity to isolate the source of an epidemic, so that the system administrator can take effective measures such as launching an antivirus scan, updating databases or setting a higher protection level for the network.

Backup storage. The application stores copies of messages in the backup folder before deleting them, which enables the system administrator to retrieve any important information in the event that an object has been treated incorrectly or mistakenly labeled as spam.

Administration

Flexibile settings. The system administrator can configure the program to comply with the company's security policy and hardware capabilities. For example, they can limit the types of malicious and potentially malicious programs that are identified, regulate the application's operation according to the mail traffic and the number of users, or have only potentially harmful programs scanned.

Database updates. Antivirus databases can be scanned on demand, or automatically directly from Kaspersky Lab servers, or from local sources on the company network. Updates can also be made to individual modules of the antivirus engine and linguistic analyzers.

Detailed reports. System administrators can view graphic HTML reports or the Windows event log to control the application's operation.

Centralized administration. Configuration and administration of the application can be performed via a single administration console, integrated into the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), a familiar and convenient tool for system administrators. Kaspersky Security for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 can also be administered using Kaspersky Administration Kit.
