Rootkit technologies, which are becoming ever more popular with virus
writers, allow the activities of malware and its components to be hidden
from PC users and antivirus programs. The ability to detect active
rootkits on a system and to scan hidden files and processes is an
important element of antivirus protection. The authoritative German
publication ComputerBild made the ability to detect rootkit activities
during testing one of its criteria for assessing antivirus solutions. In
the magazine’s test Kaspersky Anti-Virus achieved the best results.
