Kaspersky Lab Americas Strengthens Research Bench with Addition of New Malware Analysts
Woburn, MA - October 21, 2009 - Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of Internet threat protection solutions that defend against computer viruses, spyware and all forms of malicious software, has always prided itself on the intelligence of its researchers. They are the ones in the trenches helping to combat the 30,000 malware samples the company's virus lab receives on a daily basis. Kaspersky Lab Americas has added four malware researchers to the Global Research and Analysis Team. Tim Armstrong, Fabio Assolini, Bo Olsen and Josh Philips will work with Senior Malware Researcher, Roel Schouwenberg and Senior Regional Researcher, Dmitry Bestuzhev to continue developing the analysis and research against Internet threats and malware.
The new appointments are as follows:
Josh Phillips comes to Kaspersky Lab from Microsoft, where he served as a virus analyst who developed signatures for new and emergent malware. As a Senior Researcher with Kaspersky Lab, Josh will be responsible for continuing to identify and capture developing malware for the Americas region, as well as developing future technologies.
Tim Armstrong comes to the Global Research and Analysis Team from Kaspersky Lab Americas corporate support team, where he worked with enterprise customers and performed on-site installations. In his new position as a Researcher, Armstrong will be responsible for monitoring the threat landscape and managing the ‘white-listed' software database for the Americas region.
Fabio Assolini joins Kaspersky Lab from his most recent position as an independent security researcher with Linha Defensiva. As a Researcher for Kaspersky, Assolini will focus his attention on the Latin American region, specifically Brazil. His responsibilities include identifying and providing analysis of viruses, banking Trojans and other Brazilian malware.
Bo Olsen most recently served as a security intelligence analyst for Trend Micro. With almost a decade of experience, Olsen will focus on in-depth analysis of viruses, Trojans, worms and other types of malware for Kaspersky Lab as a Researcher.
These additions to the Global Research and Analysis Team will be instrumental in continuing Kaspersky Lab's efforts in combating cyber crime and the growing malware threat.
