Woburn, MA – February 26, 2014 -Kaspersky Lab today announces the release of Kaspersky Safe Browser, a free application for security protection while browsing the Internet, for the Apple iOS and now on Microsoft’s mobile OS for Windows Phone. The app is available for download from both the Apple iTunes Store and Windows Phone Store.

The new solution offers protection against cyber attacks that can occur when consumers browse the Internet from their mobile devices. Kaspersky Safe Browser blocks links to phishing sites and other Web-based resources that can be dangerous to consumers. The app can also filter content according to user-selected criteria based on 17 pre-defined content-filtering categories. As a result, consumers can automatically block inappropriate websites, material containing violence or profanity, gaming sites, social networks, chats, forums and more.

The app also provides real-time protection from known and emerging Web threats based on data it receives from the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN). KSN processes threat intelligence delivered by users of Kaspersky Lab security products from all around the world. The new application is compatible with Apple devices running iOS 5 and higher, and Windows Phone 8.

“Smartphones are becoming an essential part of modern life and the Web browser is one of the most popular features. However, even the most tech-savvy web user may sometimes struggle to distinguish fake sites from the real thing. Now, Kaspersky Safe Browser is here to help, providing automatic protection against fraudulent and inappropriate sites.”

“Quite a few users of Apple products believe their devices are immune to cyber attacks. This false sense of security makes it easier for cybercriminals to execute their plans. Kaspersky Safe Browser for iOS protects users from dangerous content whenever they go online.”
