Woburn, MA – January 31, 2014 - Kaspersky Labannounces that its flagship security solution for home users, Kaspersky Internet Security 2014, earned the highest possible score in AV-Test’sBi-Monthly Certification conducted from November-December 2013. The Kaspersky Lab product outperformed 23 competitors that were also tested, with only one other solution achieving the same score.

Kaspersky Internet Security achieved a perfect score, earning 18 out of 18 points overall. The Kaspersky Lab solution neutralized all of the malicious samples prepared by the testers without significantly affecting computer performance.

Testing was done on a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1 – the latest version of the operating system, which was released by Microsoft in October 2013. The methodology used during testing imitated the way a home user would implement the security solution. The products could employ any anti-malware technologies available to them, including the ability to query cloud services if this capability was provided by the vendor. The threat collection used in the test included over 19,000 samples of malware. Of these, 110 of the samples were not widespread malware at the time of testing and therefore could help determine the product’s effectiveness against the latest cyberthreats.

Additionally, during November and December, AV-Test evaluated security products for corporate users on Windows 8. Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business scored 17 points out of 18, successfully blocking 100 percent of malicious samples in the test collection.

Kaspersky Lab
“In most cases, the capabilities built into the operating system are not sufficient to safeguard users from cyberthreats, which are growing in number every day. Any new platform quickly becomes targeted by cybercriminals. This is why dedicated solutions developed by experienced vendors, such as Kaspersky Internet Security or Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, are needed to provide reliable protection.”
