Eugene Kaspersky will lead initial fundraising efforts at the annual RSA Conference 2013 in San Francisco

ikeepsafeWoburn, MA –February 21, 2013 –Kaspersky Lab today announced the beginning of their partnership with iKeepSafe.org, designed to raise funding and increase online safety knowledge within K-12 schools across North America.  iKeepSafe is a 501(c)3 nonprofit international alliance, founded in 2005 to help influence online safety policy and promote safe online behaviors.

Kaspersky Lab, an endpoint security company which protects more than 300 million users worldwide, will officially kick-off this partnership on February 25th at the RSA Conference 2013, an annual week-long gathering of the world’s most influential security vendors and experts.  Proceeds raised during the conference will be donated to iKeepSafe on Wednesday, February 27th at the Kaspersky Lab booth at the RSA Conference 2013.  Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and co-founder, will be on-hand to present the funds.

The IT Security Industry Can Help
For every guest who attends a presentation or product demonstration in the Kaspersky Lab booth during the RSA Conference 2013, Kaspersky Lab will donate $10 to iKeepSafe.   These proceeds will be used by iKeepSafe to create and distribute materials that educate teachers, students and parents about how to stay safe while browsing the Internet.  High-quality software is a vital part of online protection, but ensuring users are informed and educated about web threats is an equally critical factor.

Throughout the year, Kaspersky Lab will partner with iKeepSafe to produce and distribute dynamic, relevant content directly to educators, and to offer guidance to policy-making organizations charged with creating safe online environments for students.  Through the combined resources and expertise of Kaspersky Lab and iKeepSafe, school districts can make better-informed decisions, and students will be more aware of online threats.  Kaspersky Lab has historically supported online safety awareness through the company’s consumer business unit, through charitable activities like Touchdowns for Technology.  This partnership with iKeepSafe will allow Kaspersky Lab to engage the B2B security community and compliment the company’s other ongoing awareness efforts, such as Kaspersky Lab’s sponsorship of the American Cup, which spotlights security research conducted by college students.
