Woburn, MA – December 4, 2013 –Kaspersky Lab today announces that Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 has received the highest Advanced+ award in the latest independent AV-Comparatives Performance Test (Suite Products), designed to evaluate the impact security software has on PC performance.

Today’s security solutions require seamless integration with the operating system of a PC in order to combat malicious attacks. However, if the solution makes inefficient use of system resources, it can noticeably slow down the computer’s performance. Therefore, AV-Comparatives evaluated 22 security solutions on their impact on PC performance, through a series of tests. The results show that Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 scored 188.8 points out of 190 and earned the Advanced+ rating.

Product performance was evaluated using two tests and the scores were combined for the overall rating. The scenarios included everyday operations such as copying and archiving files, installing programs, converting music files from one format to another, and other tasks frequently performed by PC users. The impact of the antivirus products on system performance was also measured using the specialized application Futuremark PCMark 8 Professional Edition. The solutions were tested on computers running Microsoft Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and all products ran under their default settings.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 was released in August, and includes several new anti-malware technologies. For example, the solution provides new features such as ZETA Shield, which detects malware hidden in legitimate files, and also, technology to protect against screen lockers that minimizes the threat of ransomware.

Kaspersky Internet Security regularly comes out on top in independent testing. Most recently, the security solution earned the highest score in testing conducted by AV-Test. Also, Kaspersky Internet Security was awarded the top AAA rating from Dennis Technology Labs during the July-September 2013 quarterly test.
