Abelino “Al” Ochoa is Appointed Managing Director of Kaspersky Lab for the Region

Miami, FL, June 1st, 2011 - -Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, announced the realignment of Kaspersky Lab Latin America. The new structure reinforces the company’s commitment to the region and will be focused on the development of customer solutions and value-added partner programs specific to Latin America.

With the realignment, Kaspersky Lab Latin America becomes part of the company’s Emerging Markets Division, headed by Garry Kondakov, executive vice-president of Emerging Markets. According to Kaspersky Lab’s operational results for 2010*, the company experienced significant growth in the Americas region, including the USA, North and South America, which saw growth of 68 percent and revenues of $134 million.

Al Ochoa, formerly director of consumer sales, has been appointed managing director for the region. Since joining Kaspersky Lab in 2010, Al has been responsible for driving the sales growth of consumer products in Latin America and has significantly contributed to the annual growth in total revenue across all consumer channels as well as units. Under his direction and supervision of a highly dedicated team of sales managers and value-added distribution partners, Kaspersky claimed the number one retail position in many markets across the region.

Kaspersky Lab also announced the following appointments in the region:

  • Eljo Aragao and Hugo Avendano, country managers for Brazil and Mexico, respectively, have acquired more responsibilities in their roles. Both will now be in charge of supervising all business teams as well as all channel activities in their markets.
  • Dan Molina has been appointed director of business development for Latin America, where he will be responsible for all sales, operations and activities (both in B2B and B2C) for all the countries in the region (with the exception of Brazil and Mexico).
  • Luis Guisasola has been appointed marketing director for Latin America and will supervise a team responsible for all marketing initiatives in the region.
  • Alfredo Iglesias has been appointed director of support and services for Latin America and will supervise the systems engineering team in the region.
