WOBURN, MA - September 9, 2009-Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of Internet threat management solutions, today announced that Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 has received the Golden Certificate in the September anti-spam test report, published this week by British IT security magazine Virus Bulletin.

This latest round of product testing was conducted during the month of August, and included 12 of the most popular anti-spam products in a head-to-head comparison.  The tests gauged each product's spam filtration efficiency on identical server hardware using Windows or Linux server operating systems.

Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 was tested for efficiency using over 315,000 test spam emails, including 19,400 emails from Virus Bulletin's own spam archive.  Virus Bulletin additionally used 249,000 samples of real-time spam that was captured in their "Project: Honey Pot" spam traps, making sure that each anti-spam product was tested against the very latest spam variants.

The prestigious VB Golden Certificate is only awarded to products that can demonstrate very high levels of spam detection, along with a low rate of false-positives. Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 earned its Golden Certificate by successfully detecting 98.39% of spam messages, with a minimal false positive rate of 0.63 %.  Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 demonstrated an even higher detection rate, 99.01%, for genuine, real-time spam emails that originated from Virus Bulletin's spam traps.

Virus Bulletin's experts praised Kaspersky Lab's solution for its above-average performance in both test parameters, as well as its ease of use.  Since the Virus Bulletin spam tests were first conducted in early 2009, Kaspersky Lab's Anti-Spam product has earned a certificate of distinction each time it was evaluated, including a Platinum Certificate award in July 2009.
