—Industry Guru to Evangelize Enterprise and Malware Trends and Risk Management—
Woburn, MA – November 12, 2007 – Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of Internet threat management solutions that protect against viruses, spyware, hackers and spam, today announces the addition of security pundit Tom Bowers to its senior analyst team. Tom joins Kaspersky as a senior security evangelist.
In this role, Tom will draw on his vast industry experience to serve as a spokesperson to the business community on security issues and solutions and risk analysis. In doing so, Tom will blaze a prominent trail at tradeshows, industry gatherings, seminars and user conferences—helping to push the world forward in its fight against cybercrime.
“Tom’s reputation precedes him. He is well-known as one of the rare individuals that can hone in on security issues most likely to impact businesses now and in the future,” said Randy Drawas, Kaspersky’s vice president of marketing. “Attracting a talented visionary such as Tom is the latest example that Kaspersky is altering the security scene. Tom’s arrival will go a long way towards helping advance Kaspersky’s corporate mission of educating the market on the real nature of Internet threats and cybercrime.”
Tom joins Kaspersky from security think tank and industry analyst firm Security Constructs. He holds certifications as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Project Management Professional and as a Certified Ethical Hacker. Tom also serves as the president of the 600-member Philadelphia chapter of Infragard, is a contributing editor to InfoWorld, speaks regularly at events like Information Security Decisions and recently served as a technical editor at Information Security magazine. Prior to Security Constructs, Tom held senior management positions in IT and security at a variety of companies, including a seven-year stint with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
“Kaspersky stands out in the security industry as a company that stays ahead of the pack, and more importantly, ahead of Internet threats,” said Bowers. “I look forward to catapulting this company to a new level and joining the Kaspersky community in its fight to make the Internet a safer place for all.”
