Spam levels have fallen worldwide by as much as 5 percent following recent efforts by Russian police to crackdown on a notorious global spam operation.
On Oct. 26, Moscow police announced the launch of an investigation against suspected spam bigwig Igor A. Gusev, according to the New York Times. Police said Gusev is a key operative in SpamIt.com, a company that paid spammers to flood e-mail inboxes around the world with online pharmacy offers.
