Good computer housekeeping essential to prevent identity theft
Sacramento Examiner, By Joanna Jullien
Cyber criminals are increasingly sophisticated in their methods to delude the innocent user into granting permission into private systems and files by offering seemingly innocent emails or links to click. This was the case with a Roseville restaurant, Paul Martin’s, whose computer system was recently hacked and customer credit card accounts were stolen.
This is also how the Stuxnet worm (malicious code), which made headlines last month, invaded the once very secure, command and control systems for water and power. Authorized personnel unwittingly transferred the maleware into the system through the data disk transfers – a manual operation.
