Kaspersky Lab has reported that internet users age 55 and over often behave insecurely online and may become victims of fraud due to their behaviors. Despite installed computer security, users often leave themselves open to cybercriminal attacks through other unguarded devices that could lead to fraud, cybercriminals accessing financial information, or cybercriminals changing privacy settings on social media sites. The older generation uses the Internet for many aspects of their lives, and by not changing their behaviors, they open themselves up to cybercriminal attacks.
