Public-Private Shield Needed Against Hackers, Tom Ridge Says

The threat cyberwarfare poses to the American economy demands a far more coordinated response from government and the private sector, former Homeland SecuritySecretary Tom Ridge said Tuesday.

"Your national security and your economic security are inextricably tied together - you cannot have one without the other," said Ridge, speaking at the Kaspersky CyberSecurity Summit in San Francisco.

Ridge said many corporate CEOs still don't understand the full danger of computer attacks while the federal government remains too reluctant to share specific information on threats.
