Cloud computing is now entrenched in most business sectors, and Kaspersky Vice President of Channel Sales John Murdock said that has the security company taking a deep-dive into virtualization.

"When you talk about cloud security, whether it’s a public or hybrid [cloud], you have to talk about virtualization," Murdock said at CRN's Best of Breed (BoB) Conference in Orlando, Fla., last week.

Murdock said the company is seeing increased demand from partners and end customers that want to look at the virtualized environments. At the same time, he said, businesses want a "lighter footprint" that will not impact business efficiency.

Kaspersky is actively recruiting partners, particularly in hopes of expanding its presence in virtualization. "There's a lot of great partners out there that have a virtualization practice that bring some solutions there," Murdock said.

Murdock also said the overall movement toward recurring-revenue-based business models in the channel has come to include security services. "You really need [Security-as-a-Service] if you're offering some kind of managed service," he said. Check out the video here.
