Today AV-Test.org released test results for 23 consumer products and eight commercial endpoint protection products. All tested products achieved certification for antivirus protection under Windows XP, something that hasn't happened in quite a while. Several made significant gains over their scores in the last test under XP, which took place during September and October of 2011.

Each product can earn up to six points in three areas: protection against malware attack, repair of already-infected systems, and overall usability. For certification, a product must earn 11 or more points. Bitdefender took the highest overall score, 17 of 18 possible points, with Kaspersky just a half-point behind.
