Many software companies release new products in the U.S. and then gradually translate them for other markets; not Kaspersky Lab. European users have been enjoying the Kaspersky PURE security mega-suite since last March. An enhanced version is now available in the U.S. as Kaspersky PURE Total Security ($89.95 direct for three licenses). This consumer-focused product includes all the functionality of Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 ($79.95 direct for three licenses, 4 stars) plus password management, backup, and comprehensive remote management across the home network.

Kaspersky PURE's user interface (UI) bears a strong similarity to that of Norton 360 Version 4.0 ($79.99 direct for three licenses, 4.5 stars), another mega-suite aimed primarily at the home user. Three large buttons offer status information for backup, overall computer protection, and parental control. Each button includes a small menu of quick tasks, and clicking the button opens a window with detailed information and actions for the selected area.
