Which antivirus is lighter and faster; Norton or Kaspersky?

My current trial subscription to Norton is running out, and I need a light and fast antivirus software. Norton appeared to be very light and quick, but its a bit more expensive than kaspersky 2010 on amazon. But I hear that Kaspersky is heavy and slow, and previously had Kaspersky on my last laptop which felt heavy and sluggish…although I’m not sure if that was because my last laptop was slow or it was the kaspersky making it slow.
